German based company Curved/Labs has published a video showcasing their take on a Nintendo Switch 2 concept with improved features, design, and touch controls.
Sure, being that the Nintendo Switch portable tablet gaming console hit the market just over a year ago, it might seem a bit premature to already start imagining version 2.0. However, like any other new technology, there is always room for improvement. Don’t get me wrong, I personally love my Nintendo Switch and am one of the over 18 million proud owners of the device, but I also find this new concept by Curved/Labs to be quite impressive and practical.
With that said, low and behold, welcome the Nintendo Switch 2!
The current Nintendo Switch has a 6.2-inch LCD screen, and this concept suggests having a larger 7.3-inch capacitive touch screen. This increases the operating area by a 10% margin. What also makes this revised version easier for those with bigger hands are the extendable rails on the Joy Con controllers. This is a very practical addition and brilliant idea in my opinion.
Another cool feature is a more robust fold-out kickstand. The current kickstand serves its purpose just fine, however this design seems to make more sense in regards to being able to better support the hybrid gaming device.
Additionally, a new feature that really makes this Nintendo Switch 2 concept stand out is its foldable and transparent screen cover. This helps to better protect your device while being transported and can also double as a keyboard by using E-ink that is integrated directly into the cover itself. This also eliminates the need to purchase a protective film separately.
With practically all new devices such as laptops, smartphones and tablets, making the switch to USB Type-C it only makes sense that the new Nintendo Switch also makes the upgrade. This concept has that in mind as well.
Last but not least, Curved/Labs has given this new model a bump from 32GB of internal memory up to 64GB instead as well as up to 400GB of expandable storage.
