Nintendo has announced that a modern remake of The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening will be coming to the Nintendo Switch. Originally released for the Game Boy back in 1993 it became one of the most popular Zelda games of all time.

Whether you’re old enough to remember owning the original Game Boy (like myself) or not, you’ll most likely appreciate this modern and artistic new take on an old classic. The game did get a re-release years ago for the Game Boy Color where more color and a new dungeon was added. It will be interesting to see what surprises Nintendo has in store for this release.

Check out the official announcement trailer published by Nintendo below. It comes as no surprise that currently it’s nearly one of the top 10 trending videos on YouTube.

Not many people were expecting this and Nintendo continues to surprise us in the best of ways. This is very exciting news for many Zelda fans. Could this mean that Nintendo also has other Zelda remakes in mind? Time will tell I suppose!

The artwork and graphics in the remake of Zelda: Link’s Awakening look nothing short of brilliant. Just like the original, this game will tell the story of Link getting stranded on the very odd and bizarre Koholint Island. With wacky characters and strange monsters to face along your journey it’s an adventure like no other.

Will you be adding The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening to your “must have Nintendo Switch games” list? I know for sure it’s already on mine! Thank you Nintendo, we love you for this!
