It’s like 4G tablet overload the past few days, which of course is not a bad thing! A few days ago we brought you details about the upcoming 4G Galaxy Tab 8.9, now brace yourself for AT&T’s first ever 4G tablet the HTC Jetstream which will be available beginning September 4th. You can snatch one of these bad boys up for $699.99 provided you sign a 2-year contract with AT&T. The plan costs $35 per month and includes 3GB of monthly data. Other options for postpaid and prepaid data plans are available as well.
This Android 3.1 Honeycomb powered LTE tablet also sports an HD screen display and an impressive 8 MP rear facing camera. A tablet with a high quality camera is not something we are accustomed to and it’s definitely another feature that makes this new device stand out. It’s funny how I just recently mentioned in a previous article how tablets need better equipped cameras, it’s as though HTC read my mind! Another fun fact about this new slate is that it’s the first one ever to be compatible with both of AT&T’s 4G and 3G networks.
For a limited time AT&T is also bundling new purchases with the HTC Scribe pen and software free of charge. This additional accessory typically costs about $80 if purchased separately.
The really good thing about Android 3.1 is that it’s not just a spinoff or upgrade from previous versions of the Android OS. Not that there’s anything wrong with older Android OS versions, but Honeycomb was built and developed from the ground up specifically for tablet computers which as we all know have much larger screens compared to your average smartphone.
Along with Android 3.1 Homeycomb comes a whole slew of improvements such as widgets that are resizeable and more interactive, better browsing, easier and improved customization features and improved multi-tasking abilities. You can also take advantage of the 3D interactive Google Maps 5.0 which has loads of advanced features including “Compass Mode”, meaning the 3D maps automatically rotate and adjust depending on the direction you’re facing.
So, now that we have details such as pricing, availability and a few other features covered let’s dive into the specs. I was unable to find out details regarding what the exact screen resolution is, or PPI, for the HTC Jetstream but below you can find the specs we know of so far.
