Yes I know, we all need to hear more speculations about the future of HP and webOS just as much as we need another cheap Chinese tablet PC knockoff. While the TouchPad is enjoying all the spoils of a wasted life there may still be hope for a bright future for Palm and webOS after all and that future might just lie in the hands of online retail giant Amazon.
Each day more deals are popping up for HP TouchPad cases, skins, sleeves and other accessories. Discount and bargain basement prices are all the rage right now. A lot of manufacturers are reporting sold out stock. The limited stock coupled with the back to school rush has triggered a sales frenzy and everyone is trying to get their hands on the best and cheapest TouchPad cases while quantities and supplies last.
The demise of the HP® TouchPad certainly came as a shock to most folks, but even more so to people in the tablet industry. Nevertheless, it’s interesting to see how the whole thing is playing out. There have been firesales by names like Staples, Wal-Mart, and Best Buy. In fact, a search of the Best Buy website reveals that both the 16GB and 32GB TouchPads are completely sold out online. It’s also doubtful whether anyone will find one in-store. Seems Amazon has also jumped into the fray by selling the 16GB TouchPad for $280.00 US dollars. While it’s not the $99.99 price that others have offered, it’s still a substantial price drop.
