Taiwan based tablet manufacturing company ASUS continues to enjoy success with their Transformer tablet as production rises and shipments increase. While most other competitors are slowing down production, with exception to the iPad, demand for the Eee Pad remains strong.
Jerry Shen, CEO of ASUS, claims the company shipped 400,000 units of their Honeycomb powered tablet between April and May. This amount exceeded even their expectations and there’s no signs of slowing down either. The 3rd quarter is off to yet another fantastic start as the company plans to ship at least 300,000 more units this month alone. Turns out a lot of people do like the concept of a tablet which can also double as a netbook when needed.
You really have to give ASUS a lot of credit. They are one of the few companies who are in fact being innovative when it comes to tablets. While others are hopping on the tablet pc bandwagon so to say, ASUS employees are thinking more outside the box with products such as the Padfone for example. They are proving to be consistent in delivering fresh new concepts and ways to bring a better experience when it comes to portable computing.

Shen also claims that it’s likely the company will increase their shipping goals once again in August. Initially demands for their latest products have been low in China and Europe but he believes demands in those locations will also strengthen. It’s estimated that their tablet pc’s will rack up as much as $100 million USD in total revenue for June which will account for roughly 10% of the companies overall revenue this month.
It’s been confirmed that the company is also working towards developing a second generation version of their tablet. They estimate it will arrive at some point in the 4th quarter, just in time for the holiday season. No details have been released yet as far as specs go, but they did tease us by informing the world that it will have a new and slimmer design. It will be exciting to see what they come up with and I’m sure it will be worth the wait.
