Comments Off on Android App of the Week: Altered Beast Retro Game by SEGA Android App of the Week, Android Apps

This one is for all the fellow retro gaming nerds out there! Our Android App of the Week is an 80’s classic developed by SEGA and recently made available for mobile called Altered Beast. Does this ever bring back a lot of childhood memories!

Altered Beast was originally released back in 1988 and all cheat codes that worked on the original game console version work in the newly released mobile version as well. Altered Beast is one of five games that were made available on Google Play as part of the new SEGA Forever series. The other four SEGA Genesis classic game titles included in the launch were Comix Zone, Kid Chameleon, Sonic the Hedgehog, and Phantasy Star II.

You can play Altered Beast both online or offline and it also has Bluetooth controller support. There’s an online leaderboard you can compete in too. For the die hard gamer geeks who grew up playing such classic games you can bet your entire retro games collection (which by now is worth quite a bit) there will be a lot of people competing for the highest score.

SEGA plans on bringing several classic games to mobile, with new releases each month, from gaming consoles spanning multiple different eras such as the SG-1000, Mega Drive/Genesis, Dreamcast, Saturn, and Master System. Some mobile versions will be ported games while others will run on emulators.

So yes, SEGA is bringing the 80’s back! However some might say this isn’t the case because the 80’s never really left but that’s a topic for another day.

The Altered Beast beat ’em up game for Android is free to download and play with the option to pay $1.99 for an upgrade that removes all in-app ads. So put on your demon fighting suit and click the button below to visit Google Play to install Altered Beast on your Android device.
