Recently I’ve become addicted to a game for Android called Adventure Escape: Carnival. It’s a bit of an older mobile game and not exactly a new release but it’s one that I just can’t seem to put down. So, I decided to do an app review for it.
At the time of writing this app review, the game has a 4.5 star rating in the Play Store as well as a 4.6 rating in the App Store. It’s a product from the Haiku Games development team who have developed many other great mobile games as well aside from this one.
So, let’s get started shall we?
- Great graphics
- Compelling story line
- Fun puzzles
- You have to finish a level before saving
- Not entirely clear on what the puzzles are
- You don’t get many free hints
Here’s a short video and a few screenshots I took using my Samsung Galaxy Tab A tablet.
The Adventure Escape: Carnival app is a great puzzle game and different from other ones I’ve seen. The story line and puzzles are an instant draw for me. The game is free to download with some in app purchases, which with these games there almost always are. It’s labeled as an adventure game but I would call it more of an adventure puzzle game. You must find objects and complete puzzles to make it through the stages.
There are 8 chapters in this mobile game and each chapter is just as addicting as the one before. Some of the drawbacks I noticed is that you don’t get many free hints in the game, the puzzles don’t always come with clear hints or instructions on what you are to do and you must finish a level in order to save your progress or start from scratch when you start the game again.
The puzzles in the game are challenging and make you really think. Some are easy while others are hard and take some time to finish. One example is a Sudoku puzzle in the game which does not have numbers but symbols instead. I personally spent quite a bit of time on this particular puzzle. The graphics inviting and are well done for this type of game. The graphics for this particular app are creepy and have a dark but fun tone for it is Halloween based.
The story line around this game is filled with mystery and magic. You must save a little girl’s life and defeat a foe at the end. All the elements of the game revolve around a twisted, haunted and enchanted carnival. Personally I love this game and couldn’t put it down. I was hooked after the first chapter and if this type of game is your thing there’s a good chance you’ll enjoy it too.
